Narkatiaganj: A 35‑year‑old married woman was found lifeless under suspicious circumstances in a rented flat at Prakashnagar Ward 11, sparking alarm among local residents. The victim, identified as Gudiya Patel, displayed distinct injury marks around her neck.
Background of the deceased
Gudiya had been living apart from her husband for nearly eight years; her spouse is believed to be residing in Nepal. During that period she shifted to a rented accommodation in Prakashnagar.
Family’s allegations
According to her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, a man named Ashish Jaiswal (also known as Siku) – a resident of Ward 1 who had been visiting Gudiya’s home for the past three to four years – allegedly strangled her to death.
Events leading up to the tragedy
The relatives claim that Gudiya had a heated argument with Ashish about four days before she was found dead and had informed her maternal family of the dispute.
On the night of the incident, Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son was staying at his maternal grandmother’s house, leaving his mother alone. Her body was discovered later that night.
Police response
Law enforcement arrived at the scene after receiving a tip-off and began a thorough examination of the premises. SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV stated that the case is being investigated from every possible angle, and further actions will depend on post‑mortem results and emerging evidence.
