Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today launched a fleet of 87 high‑tech interceptor motorcycles and cars at Lok Bhavan, signalling a decisive step toward digitised policing across Uttar Pradesh. The combination of four‑wheel and two‑wheel units is intended to sharpen traffic monitoring, enhance road‑safety protocols and strengthen law‑enforcement presence statewide.
Technology‑Driven Policing at the Forefront
Addressing officials and journalists, the chief minister traced the state’s law‑and‑order progress since his 2017 mandate and reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to overhaul police work with cutting‑edge tools. He pointed to the police commissionerate model as a structure that requires strategic planning, bold leadership and modern equipment to foster a safe environment for growth and civic life.
Feature‑Rich Interceptor Fleet
The newly commissioned vehicles come fitted with sophisticated surveillance kits, GPS‑linked tracking and live‑feed communication systems. They will be stationed on major thoroughfares, congested intersections and other high‑risk locales, feeding real‑time data to Integrated Command and Control Centres.
Adityanath also linked the rollout to the broader Safe City programme, noting that operational command hubs in several districts are already supporting both proactive patrols and investigative operations.
Celebrating Valor and Service
The ceremony included a medal ceremony for police personnel who have shown exceptional dedication. Among the recipients was the late STF Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh, posthumously honoured with the Kirti Chakra for his gallantry, with his family accepting the award on his behalf.
The event also marked the launch of former DGP Prakash Singh’s autobiography Sangharsh, which offers an insider’s view of police reforms and his long‑standing career.
Road‑Safety Remains Central
Highlighting the ongoing challenge of traffic fatalities, the chief minister emphasised that technology‑enabled enforcement and constant monitoring are vital to reduce deaths on the road. Deploying the 87 interceptors is a key pillar of Uttar Pradesh’s comprehensive plan to modernise traffic management and safeguard commuters.
Through these measures, the state aims to set a new standard for contemporary policing, merging traditional courage with digital accuracy.
