Arrests and seized firearms

The Crime Branch unit in Farukhnagar, Gurugram, detained three young men believed to have plotted a large‑scale terror‑related act in Delhi aimed at sowing panic. During the operation, officers seized two pistols of foreign origin along with five cartridges.

The accused are identified as:

  • Abhay (alias Maulad), 20 – resident of Kheda Jhajhrola village.
  • Jatin (alias Jony), 29 – hailing from Patel Nagar, Sonipat.
  • Sagar – also from Kheda Jhajhrola.

All three have been booked under the Arms Act at Sector‑10 Police Station.

How the arrests unfolded

Separate teams cornered the suspects at different locations. Abhay was intercepted near the Garhi fly‑over on the New Pataudi‑Gurugram Road, Jatin was apprehended in Farukhnagar, and Sagar was stopped close to the KMP in the same zone. While fleeing, Sagar attempted to jump from a fly‑over, broke his leg and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Legal proceedings will resume after his recovery.

Probe into weapon supply

Interrogations revealed that Abhay received the pistols from Jatin. Investigators are now tracing the source of Jatin’s supply chain, with early leads indicating the firearms passed through additional intermediaries.

Police suspect the trio maintained contact with persons abroad, possibly receiving directives for illicit money‑recovery and extortion activities. The alleged plot targeted a major criminal act in Delhi to generate fear, though specifics of the intended victims remain under investigation.

Police examining a wider network

Authorities are mapping the complete chain that delivered the weapons to the suspects, scrutinising communication logs and hunting for other conspirators.

Records show that Jatin already faces a case in Delhi under the Excise Act, prompting officials to review his past dealings as part of the current probe.

ACP Naveen Sharma stressed that the investigation continues to uncover the firearms’ origin, the broader syndicate, and any further criminal links the arrested individuals may have. The case remains active, with updates expected as questioning proceeds and new leads are verified.
