Details of the Grievance
At the Bhargama police outpost in Araria district, a 22‑year‑old woman from Banka submitted a formal FIR against Mohammad Rabban, a resident of Ward 7, Dhaneshwari panchayat. She claims Rabban hid his real identity and systematically extracted cash from her throughout a six‑year romantic involvement.
How the Couple Met
The complainant explained that she lived with her family near the bustling Sabzi Mandi market in Delhi. It was there she met Rabban, who introduced himself as “Sonu.” The two reportedly maintained a close relationship for almost six years.
Marriage Proposal Triggers Dispute
When the woman asked Rabban to marry her, he allegedly asked her to travel to his native village. Accompanied by her mother and brother, she arrived in Dhaneshwari panchayat, only to discover that a feud between the two families erupted, bringing the wedding plans to an abrupt halt.
Allegations of Financial Exploitation
She further asserts that Rabban repeatedly demanded money from her during the course of their relationship. After the marriage talks collapsed, she approached the police to retrieve the funds and to lodge a complaint for alleged deception.
Attempts at Community Mediation
Local community members tried to intervene and negotiate a settlement, but the discussions fell apart. Consequently, the woman filed a written application with the Bhargama police outlining her accusations.
Police Response and Ongoing Probe
Bhargama SHO Rajesh Kumar confirmed receipt of the complaint and said it is currently under review. He noted that, so far, no concrete proof of monetary fraud has been submitted. Authorities will examine the allegations against the evidence before deciding on any further legal steps.
