New Central Allocation Boosts Himachal’s Farm Sector

The Union government has unlocked a fresh package of ₹64.82 crore to reinforce agricultural initiatives across Himachal Pradesh. The funds are split between two flagship programmes designed to modernise farming practices in the hill state.

How the Money Is Divided

Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre has earmarked ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore will flow through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Together, these allocations constitute the complete ₹64.82 crore tranche.

Political Leaders Praise the Support

Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued financial backing. Thakur noted that the fresh infusion will solidify ongoing infrastructure works and kick‑start new projects aimed at uplifting Himachal’s agrarian community.

Planned Use of the Funds

The capital will be channelled into a spectrum of activities, ranging from seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to farmer‑skill development workshops. Strengthening both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana will enable the state to fast‑track planned interventions and sustain progress on existing schemes.

Wider Significance

This allocation forms part of a broader central effort to ensure timely funding for state‑level agricultural schemes. Himachal’s latest tranche underscores the collaborative approach between the centre and the state to keep vital farm programmes financially viable.
