New Delhi. In a decisive development, Delhi Police have taken five alleged robbers into custody in connection with a ₹1.5 crore cash heist. Investigators say roughly ₹1 crore has already been recovered from the accused.
The robbery unfolded on the evening of 7 September along the Outer Ring Road, near the Geeta Colony flyover. A commuter and his companion were riding an auto‑rickshaw from Chandni Chowk to Safdarjung Enclave, carrying a bag that held an estimated ₹1.5 crore in cash.
Mid‑journey, two men on a motorcycle halted the auto‑rickshaw, brandishing weapons and forcing the duo to surrender the bag before speeding away.
Following the incident, a formal FIR was lodged and a dedicated investigative team was assigned to trace the perpetrators. Their efforts soon identified a network of suspects, leading to the arrest of five individuals.
Through rigorous interrogation and forensic work, police have reclaimed around ₹1 crore. The hunt continues for the remaining sum, as authorities probe deeper into possible accomplices and the broader conspiracy behind the audacious robbery.
