Senior Learner Brandishes Homemade Pistol at Shri Kund‑Kund Jain Inter College
On Thursday, a senior student forced his way into Shri Kund‑Kund Jain Inter College in Muzaffarnagar, clutching a locally‑crafted pistol. Pretending to be there to pay his fees, he slipped past the locked main gate and headed straight for a classroom where a Class 10 pupil was studying.
Gunfire Erupts, Campus Descends into Chaos
Inside the room the teenager allegedly fired a shot. The bullet missed its intended target, but the loud bang sent panic rippling through the school. Principal Anurag Jain and several teachers rushed in, only to find the gunman turning the weapon on the principal as they tried to intervene.
What Sparked the Violence?
According to the accused, the younger boy and a few of his friends had verbally abused and physically attacked him earlier in the week. Police suspect the shooting was a retaliatory act for an incident two days earlier, when the Class 10 group allegedly struck the senior student with sticks.
Teachers Contain the Situation, Police Arrive
Through calm dialogue, the teaching staff succeeded in subduing the shooter and securing the weapon. Law enforcement was alerted, and officers later recovered the pistol along with two cartridges. The suspect was taken into custody for further questioning.
Principal’s View on Campus Safety
Principal Jain noted that the student's claim of coming to pay fees initially lowered suspicion, as the campus gate is locked after students enter, limiting escape routes. He commended the staff’s swift response for averting a potentially tragic outcome.
Investigation Ongoing
Investigators are now reconstructing the timeline of the earlier confrontation and the subsequent shooting. The Class 10 student emerged unharmed, and the case remains under police scrutiny.
