Fatal Slip at Parsokha Settlement
On Thursday evening, four‑year‑old Ansh Chaudhary was enjoying a game of hide‑and‑seek close to his home in Parsokha, a hamlet under the Kotwali police area of Maihar district, Madhya Pradesh. He inadvertently stepped onto the rim of an uncovered septic tank that still contained standing water and tumbled in.
Immediate Rescue Efforts
Nearby residents and family members rushed to the site, pulled the child from the tank and whisked him to the nearest medical facility. Despite the emergency team's best attempts, Ansh could not be revived, leaving his family devastated and the neighbourhood in disbelief.
Police Probe Initiated
The Kotwali police arrived swiftly, filing a case of accidental death. Investigators are examining why the septic tank was left open, whether any protective barriers existed, and what procedural lapses may have contributed to the incident.
Demand for Safer Public Utilities
This heartbreaking event has revived urgent calls for stricter safety measures around open pits and uncovered septic tanks in residential zones. Community members are urging authorities to mandate secure covers and barriers, especially in areas frequented by children. The inquiry remains active as locals seek answers and preventive action.
"No child should face such a preventable danger. It is time for decisive action to secure all hidden hazards in our neighborhoods," a local resident said.
