A Triple Homicide Stuns Vishnulok Colony

In the tranquil Raipur sector of Dehradun, a grim episode unfolded that left three people dead. The victims were an 80‑year‑old patriarch, Ramesh Kapoor, his 75‑year‑old wife, Rajni Kapoor, and their 48‑year‑old domestic aide, Tiliya Devi – locally known as Sheila. All three were discovered lifeless after a routine plumbing job spiraled into violence.

Police Account: Money Dispute Escalates to Murder

Investigators say the accused, a man identified as Rajkumar, was summoned to the Kapoor home for standard plumbing repairs. Once the work was finished, a quarrel over the final bill erupted. The argument quickly turned physical, resulting in a brutal assault on the senior couple. Sheila, who heard the disturbance while attending to a nearby residence, rushed in to help and was also attacked.

Emergency services rushed the three victims to Coronation Hospital, where they were declared dead.

Neighbourhood Residents Detain the Suspect

After the killings, Rajkumar tried to flee the area, but alert locals intercepted him and handed him over to police. Authorities confirmed that he hails from Bijnor and had been living in Indresh Nagar, Dehradun. His frequent visits to the Kapoor house meant he was familiar with the family’s daily routine.

Rajkumar is now in police custody while investigators reconstruct how a simple payment disagreement escalated to a triple murder.

Community Reaction: Fear and Outrage Sweep the Colony

The shocking deaths have left Vishnulok Colony reeling. Women, senior citizens, and other residents gathered near the scene, voicing deep sorrow and growing insecurity. The Kapoor couple were well‑known and beloved, intensifying the community’s anguish.

Locals pointed out that inviting plumbers, electricians, and domestic staff into homes is commonplace, especially for older adults. This tragedy has prompted many families to rethink the safety of allowing regular access to service providers.

Demand for Stronger Law Enforcement

Residents are urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and pursue strict legal action if the allegations are proven. Several senior neighbours have also appealed for increased police patrolling, noting that Vishnulok Colony has historically been a peaceful enclave.

Sheila’s death adds a further layer of grief; she was a familiar face to the Kapoor household and had previously worked there. Her relatives arrived at the hospital after learning of the tragedy.

Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement continues to probe the case, while the community remains on edge, awaiting updates and assurances of safety.
