Interception Close to the Line of Control

Security personnel operating in the Lam sector of Nowshera, Rajouri, stopped a teenage girl as she moved toward the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). The 17‑year‑old was immediately placed under custody for an initial debrief before being handed over to the local police.

Identity of the Detained Minor

The girl has been identified as Samiya Azeem, daughter of Mohammad Azeem, a resident of Khuiretta in Pakistan‑occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).

Police Take Over the Inquiry

After the army completed its preliminary questioning, Samiya was transferred to the Nowshera Police. Investigators are now reconstructing the sequence of events that led her to the Indian side of the LoC.

Initial Statements and Ongoing Verification

In the first round of interrogation, the teenager claimed that she had crossed the border by mistake. Security agencies are cross‑checking her account and scrutinising the circumstances surrounding her movement.

Comprehensive Review by Authorities

Both the army and the police are conducting a thorough review. They are confirming her identity, mapping the exact route taken, and assessing whether the crossing was truly accidental or driven by another motive.

Because Samiya is only 17, the investigation is being carried out under the legal framework applicable to minors. The primary aim is to establish the facts of her presence near the LoC; no official motive has been disclosed so far.

Further updates will follow as the inquiry progresses and authorities decide on any subsequent action.
