Dehradun – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami officially opened the ‘Jal Srishti Park’ in Miyanwala on Friday. The Mussoorie‑Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) executed the project at an estimated outlay of ₹8.64 crore, branding it as a flagship step toward a cleaner, healthier and greener Dehradun.
Reviving a Historic Water Body
The park’s centerpiece is the restoration of an ageing pond that once lay dormant. Around the rejuvenated lake an attractive artificial island has been fashioned, and pedal‑boat facilities now invite families to enjoy leisurely rides on the water.
"Preserving water bodies is not just an ecological duty; it is a legacy we hand over to future generations," the Chief Minister remarked.
Infrastructure Boosts in Raipur
Alongside the park, Dhami highlighted ongoing upgrades in the Raipur zone, encompassing schools, hospitals, roads, drinking‑water networks, sewerage, and flood‑control works. New tube wells and overhead tanks are being commissioned, old pipelines are being replaced, and river‑bank channelisation is underway to curb seasonal flooding.
Song Dam – A Long‑Term Water Solution
With Dehradun’s population on the rise, the administration is fast‑tracking the Song Dam project, which is expected to fortify the city’s drinking‑water supply for years to come.
Facilities Tailored for All Ages
According to MDDA, Jal Srishti Park boasts a 400‑metre jogging track, a dedicated yoga deck, a children’s playground, an educational flower garden, landscaped green belts, and ample seating. By integrating modern amenities with the pond’s natural charm, the park serves as a multifunctional urban oasis.
The Chief Minister urged residents to keep the space tidy, stressing that while the government can build facilities, their upkeep is a shared community responsibility. He encouraged youngsters to utilise the jogging track, yoga deck and other amenities while safeguarding the lake and surrounding greenery.
Dehradun’s reputation for verdant scenery and natural beauty remains a top priority for the government, which aims to balance heritage preservation with contemporary development.
Present at the inauguration were MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MDDA Vice‑Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, and a large gathering of local citizens.
