A brief stop spirals into a midnight robbery

During the early hours, Vivek and his relatives pulled over near Rai to shake off fatigue. After securing the vehicle, they settled inside for a short rest, unaware that a criminal scheme was already unfolding nearby.

How the robbery unfolded

In the dim pre‑dawn light, Vivek awoke to see a stranger crouched beside the car, rifling through the locked doors. The intruder snatched a bag, a laptop, a mobile phone, ear‑buds, chargers and other personal effects. Before Vivek could react, the thief sprinted, leapt over a metal railing and linked up with two accomplices waiting on a motorcycle across the road.

The getaway on two wheels

The three culprits sped away in a coordinated burst, leaving the family bewildered and their possessions gone. Vivek estimated the loss at roughly ₹2.25 lakh.

Police response and ongoing probe

Vivek, a resident of Maruti Kunj, filed a formal complaint with the Rai police, urging swift recovery of the stolen goods and the arrest of the perpetrators. Authorities have registered the FIR and are now reviewing witness statements, CCTV recordings and any leads that could trace the thieves’ identities and escape route.

Investigators warned motorists to stay alert during roadside stops, especially in isolated stretches, and to double‑check vehicle security before taking a nap.
