Statewide Guard Mobilisation for Durga Puja 2026

In preparation for the upcoming Durga Puja, the Jharkhand police have activated a massive security operation. Between 14 October and 23 October 2026, a total of 6,750 home guards will be posted at worship pandals, major intersections and other high‑traffic sites throughout the state.

Final Touches in Ranchi and Across the Region

As the festival draws near, municipal officials in Ranchi and district administrations are completing the décor and crowd‑control infrastructure at the pandals. Anticipating a large influx of devotees, senior police and administrative officers have approved extra layers of security to pre‑empt any untoward incidents.

Command Orders and Inter‑Agency Coordination

The Directorate of Home Guards and Fire Services, led by the Director General‑cum‑Inspector General, has issued precise directives to every district commandant. The circular mandates that the stipulated strength of home guards remain on standby, ready for rapid deployment to senior police officers as operational demands evolve.

District‑wise Guard Allocation

  • Ranchi: 600 home guards
  • Jamshedpur: 500 home guards
  • Hazaribagh: 500 home guards
  • Giridih: 400 home guards
  • Other districts—including Garhwa, Latehar, Khunti, Gumla, Chatra, Lohardaga, Simdega, Ramgarh, Koderma, Palamu, Dumka, Sahibganj and Seraikela‑Kharsawan—will receive personnel based on localized crowd forecasts.

This distribution is calibrated to match expected footfall and the logistical nuances of each locality.

Youth Squads Bolster the Effort

Alongside the home guards, specially trained youth brigades will be stationed at pandals to assist with crowd direction and maintain order in congested zones. Their involvement is intended to relieve regular police units and sharpen overall crowd‑management efficiency.
