Kurukshetra: After a relentless five‑day search, the body of a 36‑year‑old daily‑wage worker from Ismailabad was retrieved on Tuesday from the Bhakra‑Narwana branch canal near the village of Kirmich.

Finding and Confirmation

Locals identified the submerged figure as Dharmbir, affectionately called Bablu in the neighbourhood. He was the sole provider for his three daughters. Residents who saw the motionless body near a canal siphon immediately informed a team of divers.

Diver Pragat Singh headed the operation that lifted the corpse from the water. Police matched the recovered remains with missing‑person alerts circulating on social media and WhatsApp groups. Once the identity was verified, the news was relayed to KUK police, and Dharmbir’s family in Ismailabad was notified.

His father, Lal Chand, along with his brother, arrived at the site, confirmed the identification, and handed the body over to authorities. The remains were then taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital for an autopsy.

Family’s Account of the Disappearance

According to relatives, Dharmbir left home on the afternoon of 1 October and never returned. After searching the surrounding area, the family filed a missing‑person report at the Ismailabad police station.

His father told investigators that Dharmbir had been under personal strain for some time. As a daily‑wage laborer, he often complained of hand pain due to the physically demanding nature of his work.

The family also mentioned that Dharmbir’s three daughters range in age from eighteen months to twelve years. He lived separately from his brothers, and no known conflicts or adversaries were reported.

Police Follow‑Up

Sub‑Inspector Sudhir Kumar of KUK police confirmed that officers arrived at the canal after receiving a tip about a possible body. Following the family’s verification, the corpse was dispatched for a post‑mortem.

Investigators stated that further steps will hinge on the autopsy results and any additional evidence uncovered during the ongoing inquiry.
